Introduction to the trainer booking facility

If you book practical vocational or motorcycle tests you can register as a trainer booker. As a trainer booker you will no longer have to tell the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) all your details every time you book a test. Training organisations must apply to DSA to be permitted to use Trainer Booking Facility (TBF).

All users must follow the guidelines to ensure that the system operates fairly for all. Failure to do so may result in the restriction or withdrawal of TBF from individual organisations.

The TBF enables training organisations to book and pay for vocational, motorcycle and car with trailer driving test appointments prior to submission of candidate and/or vehicle details. Organisations may therefore arrange training programmes for their pupils culminating in a driving test appointment.

You will have to nominate business customers, these are members of your staff who are specifically authorised to make practical driving test bookings and charge them to a defined payment card. Their names will be recorded on the booking system and they will be security checked when telephoning.

As a trainer booker you can create an online profile for theory test booking. The profile allows you, as a trainer booker, to specify:

• three test centres where you expect to make bookings

• up to five credit/debit cards that will be used frequently to pay for slots

To register for this service you will need to contact the Trainer Booking department at Pearson Vue, the theory test contractor.

Your local DSA Customer Services will be happy to discuss any concerns you have about the administration of TBF.

How to become a trainer booker

In order to become registered under the trainer booking scheme you must register as a business with DSA. You can do this by ringing the booking line and requesting a business registration form. DSA will then send you a copy of how the scheme operates for you to sign and return. Once returned you will be able to book under the TBF.
