Site Assessments - Assessing your own VTS
Authorised Examiners should now be in receipt of a letter advising them of the overall risk score for their VTS(s) along with a graph indicating how their score compares with the national picture. Part B of the Site Assessment report should have been left at the VTS by the assessing Vehicle Examiner and this will provide recommendations and possibly advice of the need for corrective action in order to reduce a risk score if this is applicable.
Some Authorised Examiners may however wish to assess their VTS more regularly on the same basis and to assist them we are providing the Site Assessment Report Form
that we use and the Reference Guide to Scoring a Site Assessment Report
.
It is important to note that only the 34 scores for Attribute Codes A4, A5, A6, A7 and A9 go to make up the overall risk score, other assessments will be used at a later date. In order to provide noticeable demarcation between the resulting 19000+ VTS scores; each attribute assessment score has been weighted to spread the results and the aggregate score amplified as follows:
Score of 1 becomes 0.5
Score of 2 becomes 1.0
Score of 3 becomes 2.0
Score of 4 becomes 3.5
Score of 5 remains at 5.0
The Total Score for the 34 assessments is then multiplied by 10.
